TCCFT 2196 Executive Meeting, January 9th, 2019
Members Attending: Dave Howard, John Sandin, Jim Reisdorf, Michael Mixdorf, Katrina Taylor, Ken Fox, Valerie Morgan-Krick, and Ken Pimpleton
Item 1: Approval of Agenda (Dave Howard): Mike made a motion to approve the Agenda and it was seconded by Katrina. The Agenda was approved.
Item 2: Approval of Previous Minutes (Dave Howard): Mike made a motion to approve the previous minutes and it was seconded by Jim. The previous minutes were approved.
Item 3: Pierce County Central Labor Council (All): Ken Pimpleton and Dave provided information about the importance of participating in the PCCLC. Jim Reisdorf considered participating in this Council this quarter. This information will be presented at the next All Membership Meeting to solicit more Delegates.
Item 4: TCCFT.wa.aft.org Website (Ken Pimpleton): Ken P. presented findings from researching the TCCFT.wa.aft.org website for TCCFT use such as posting news, minutes and information. Further research and coordination with the AFT Communications Specialist will occur prior to TCCFT voting and negotiations activities.
Item 5: TCCFT VP Stipend & Review of Constitution (Ken Fox): In reference to adding a stipend for the TCCFT VP position, Ken Fox presented Article V of the Constitution – Duties of Officers Section 2. He requested the EC send email suggestions for revising this section to include the additional duties of the VP position. He will then develop a draft of these additional duties for this position and present it at the next All Membership Meeting.
Item 6: Committee Reports:
Legislative (Katrina Taylor): Katrina reported that the Legislative Committee with meet next Wednesday January 16th, 2019.
Elections (Valerie Morgan-Krick): No Report.
Membership (James Mendoza): No Report. TCCFT is recruiting members for this committee.
By-Laws (Ken Fox): No Report.
Grievance (Michael Mixdorf): Mike and Dave report on the continuation of the grievance reflected in the last EC minutes which is still awaiting the TCC President’s decision.
Corrections (Deanna Cole): No Report.
Adjunct (Vacant): TCCFT is recruiting members for this committee.
Executive (Dave Howard): Dave report on the WSLC Elections. He shared concerns from the Dean of OLE for the Bob Thaden Faculty Excellence Award account balance being preserved. And discussions were held with the Dean of OLE and the current Faculty Forum Facilitator regarding this award process being transparent. John reported that March 5th is Labor Day of Action for the Pierce County Union cohort to lobby for Re-invest in Our Colleges (ROC). John also shared that the AFTWA Community & Technical Colleges Council recommends wearing “Blue” every Monday in Solidarity to support the Union.
